Details

LOVE TO TEACH is one of four books by Professor Sonia Blandford, founder and CEO of the award winning charity Achievement for All and listed as one of Debrett’s 500 most influential for 2016.

They each share the lessons that can be learned from the thousands of schools who have signed up to Achievement for All’s high impact approach to education and who have bought into the charity’s commitment to close the achievement gap in Britain’s schools.

Professor Blandford presents her own life story and experience as a teacher, draws on research and best practice, and talks to school leaders, teachers, parents and students (conversations which are presented as interviews within the books) and then brings to the table actions and ideas that leaders, teachers and parents can use to make those things too often considered ambiguous – vision, ethos, aspiration and achievement – a reality in the school day.

LOVE TO TEACH takes a fresh look at the challenges facing teaching staff today and explores how they can meet them in a way that optimises both their sense of wellbeing and job satisfaction and ensures that every pupil in their class makes progress above national expectation.

This excellent book reminds everyone why teaching is the most important job in the world and the importance of placing no limits on what any child, regardless of their circumstances and background, can achieve. The book explains the Achievement for All model, which helps all teachers to raise access, aspirations and achievement of not only the most disadvantaged, but of all children. This book includes "In Conversation With..." sections where teachers provide details of their own practical insight about their positive experiences of the Achievement for All programme. There is helpful information about topics such as dyslexia, bullying, mental health, and how to engage parents, including the importance of 'structured conversations' for aiding and developing practice. A must read for all teachers.
